Sundate Brunch

If you’ve tried the typical brunch spots like Antipodean, Strangers at 47, The Nutmeg, Yellow Brick Road, Breakfast Thieves…then pals, this one’s a breakthrough.
Browse through our list of 5 handpicked Sunday spots for halal, non-halal, meaty, vegan and dessert options. We’ve been budget-friendly too. We got you.

Their goal is to bring sexy back to food. That got us wondering if food ever really lost it’s sexual appeal (?) but one visit to their webpage and we’re sold! They’re one step away from GlassHouse Seputeh in terms of fancy but they’ve nailed the greenhouse “effect”, stunning plating and earthy (instagrammable) ambience. I’d have my wedding reception here. First, gotta find that man.

For the Fusion: Cureé

Address: no.40, jalan 1/77a, changkat thambi dollah, off jalan imbi (31.28 km)
55100 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Operates: 12pm – 10pm

Cuisine: Japanaese

#: 011-1888 7987

Japanese inspired cuisine with ample vegan choices and pork-free. They do serve beer, though, but that’s mostly just an excuse to have more Japanese-centric snacks. Dear Muslims, beware of the Sake Steamed Clams. Have yourselves a filling meal be it bento, katsu, natto rice or poke bowl with avocadoes in almost any dish. We’re drawn in by the desserts that don’t go beyond RM 15.

For the Lazy: Soul Sacrifice

Address: 38, Jalan 4/76C, Desa Pandan, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 55100

Operates: Closed on Mondays
8am – 9pm on Tuesdays to Fridays
8am – 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays

Cuisine: We have no idea

#: 03-92013596

It is a whole messy mix from start to end. They’ve got falafels, burgers, udon, pasta, overnight oats! But get this: they deliver to Kuala Lumpur, Pandan Indah, Ampang, TTDI, Sri Hartamas, Bangsar, Cheras, Wangsa Maju, Titiwangsa and Damansara Heights till 4pm on weekends and 8pm on weekdays; Brunch for 5 @ my home please and thank you!

For the Indecisive: Bunch KL

Address: No.2, Jalan 51A/225 Seksyen 51A, 46100 Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

Operates: 10am – 10pm

Cuisine: Western and Local

#: 011-5990 5019

Opened in May 2019, Bunch KL is another glasshouse themed venue space that gathers other cafe vendors like The Owls Cafe, My Elephant Thai Restaurant, Neighbour-food, Mini Kitchen and Forty Licks. The real attraction lies in the interior design; sections of differently themed corners making this home a gallery. The indoor and outdoor areas leave patrons wandering around the bungalow, food in hand and scouting for photoshoot spots.

For the sweet tooth: Catcher In The Rye

Address: 605, Jalan 17/12, Seksyen 17, 46400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Operates: 12pm – 10pm

Cuisine: Halal Western

#: 03-7497 1184

We’re here for the fusion so that Tangerine French Toast got us good. Catcher in the Rye surprises with their delectable sorbets and soufflés. Mostly, they’ve been commended on their home-made ice-creams that sound like they shouldn’t go well together but we say “Bring on the bitter gourd honey!”.
